Affiliate Marketing

A type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate’s own marketing efforts.

Strengths:

  • Payment is by results only. Affiliates refer leads or sales and are paid an agreed %
  • You immediately gain more customers with no cold calling
  • It does not require a sizeable investment

Weaknesses:

  • If you use affiliate brokers higher commission and set up costs can be incurred
  • The affiliate may engage in false and misleading advertising
  • Link hijackers can hijack links and steal commissions
